I took an online class once. I never met my professor, never saw their face. I worked collaboratively with my classmates  but didn’t know what they looked like. All of those problems and more could have been solved by video conferencing.

The idea of video calling into class has never been on my radar. Which is surprising given that I am very into online learning and video based learning. That is what makes the possibilities with video conferencing so exciting. If I was able to have that option for the course I did online, I’m sure my experience would have been better.

Another opportunity that video chat opens up is for when students miss class. My parents took me out of school for five months when I was in grade three. The technology was not there at the time but, video chat would have been a great tool for checking back in with my teacher and classmates.
